
Brazil is partner country 2012. From 6 until 10th March 2012 BITKOM and Deutsche Messe AG brought the Brazilian flair to Hannover. For the first time a country from South America was partner country of the worldwide most important trade fair of the digital world CeBIT.
By signing a Memorandum of Understanding on 3rd October 2011 in Sao Paulo, BITKOM and its partner associations BRASSCOM and SOFTEX laid the foundation of the partnership year in 2012.
At CeBIT numerous events and activities informed about the partner country. As a highlight of the partner country project, the German-Brazilian ICT Summit was held on the first day of the CeBIT, 6 March 2012, and featured top representatives from business and politics of both countries. The talks were continued in expert workshops on the following days, providing plenty of opportunities for further exchanges of experiences and views.

Since the partner country activities are firmly in the media focus, BITKOM, BRASSCOM and SOFTEX will join together to produce a publication to present the experiences of Brazilian and German companies involved in bilateral trading, showing the success factors and obstacles on their way to gaining a foothold in the market.
More… BITKOM would like to take the opportunity of the partner country project in order to call attention to some obstacles with the further development of the trade relations between Brazil and Germany. The largest barriers to a further intensification of the trade relations between both countries from the perspective of BITKOM are in the field of the tax law.
